Visit the Forest of Bowland
A visit to the Forest of Bowland is an absolute must during your stay at our Yorkshire holiday park.
Bowland Fell is located on the edge of this Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AoNB), which covers over 300 square miles and spans Yorkshire and Lancashire.
The region is a special place for wildlife and the moors, in particular are an important breeding ground for upland birds. For such a large geographical area it is fairly sparsely populated, with just over 16,000 residents residing in mostly small villages. And this, in part, is what makes it such a special place. If you want to get away from it all and enjoy an almost unspoilt landscape then the Forest of Bowland is the place to be.
A third of the AoNB is made up of moorland, giving it a wide-open feel. The landscape has been formed out of close relationship between people and nature – from the with drystone walls, ad hedgerows that delineate the land to the open moors and grazed fields.
Lace up your walking boots, put your best foot forward and get read to explore! The Forest of Bowland was made for walking, with many routes just waiting to be explored! As well as the fell tops and moors, there are extensive opportunities for shorter and less challenging routes in the valleys, most especially riverside walks which abound in the area.
